Donal, an SP+ facility manager in the National Capital Region, has worked in the parking industry for over 20 years. We asked him to discuss his experiences working with SP+ and the parking industry.
Q: How long have you been working at SP+?
SP+ welcomed me as Assistant Facility Manager in 2013. I progressed to the position of Facility Manager soon after with the help and guidance of my superiors and peers. I went on to operate four underground parking garages, two surface lots and a multi-level parkade at three Government of Canada locations.
Q: Tell us about your progression within the company, from your days as an attendant to your current role as facility manager?
From my introduction to the parking industry as an overnight cashier in 1996, I have sought to evolve and expand my knowledge and customer service skills. I have occupied several different functions and duties within the industry over the last 21 years, however, it is since I have been with SP+ that I have had the greatest opportunity to grow my skill set. From Customer Service to Administrative experience, equipment maintenance, safety training, team building and much more; the training, encouragement, and support have been fantastic.
Q: What do you like most about working at SP+?
What I appreciate most has been the collegiate atmosphere and being part of a team, as well as the tremendous opportunity for personal and professional growth with SP+ which has been a life-changing experience.
